Can as circular public space provide and antidote to an orthoganal grid?

El Almacén Square is subservient to the city grid, defined by the streets that surround it, exposed to the elements in the daytime and alive at night.  Our proposal - Plaza Circular - will provide a green place for contemplation, a complimentary antidote to the busy urban environment and hot sun. A large circular central opening surrounded by planters, made from red honed concrete mixed with locally sourced volcanic aggregate, removes the inherent geometric hierarchy of the city, creating a sense of enclosure and introspection.
